The CAPS4 is an integrated and compact PIN Pad and Card-Encoder terminal that allows for consumer selected PIN and instant card-issuance operations at branch locations of financial institutions. It operates as a peripheral to MagTek’s MCAPS 3000 card-issuance software platform. The CAPS4 allows consumers to quickly and securely select their own PIN for ATM/Debit/Credit cards, and provides capabilities to magnetically encode card data for instant-issuance, card-activation, or card-replacement operations. All of these activities occur in a secure, fast, and reliable manner that can be fully audited from a central administration point. Overall ergonomic value is further enhanced, because the PIN pad and card-encode functions are fully integrated into a single device, thus eliminating any chance for operator error to improperly associate incorrect card data with a wrong card. The CAPS4 PIN pad provides a large16-digit keypad and a 2-line LCD that simplifies user-interface and status with the device. DES, 3DEA, and IdentiKey encryption is supported. Remote Key loading is also supported, and allows for a UKPD (Unique Key Per Device) policy to be supported. The card-encoder section of the CAPS4 terminal provides an easy-to-use, and reliable motorized magstripe encoder that simplifies user interface, and ensures consistent and reliable magstripe encode and read-verify operations. Both low-coercivity and high-coercivity (Loco/HiCo) magnetic encoding is supported. All magstripe encode operations comply with ISO 7810/7811 magnetic stripe standards. Ethernet, RS-232, and modem connectivity options are supported. For enhanced security, the device utilizes an advanced dual-processor architecture that provides a complete physical and logical firewall between application code and security operations. All PIN pad, key management, key storage, and LCD messaging activities are securely managed by a dedicated security processor that cannot be compromised by any type of external software intervention. For further protection, all code downloads are authenticated. For physical protection, the device is housed in a TRSM (Tamper Resistant Security Module) enclosure that can detect illegal tamper or entry into the device. Once a tamper event is detected, it will automatically trigger erasure of all encryption keys and program data. The device will then remain in a non-operational state until reset by appropriate security procedures. For secure, reliable, and fast PIN selection and card-issuance operations at the branch location, the CAPS4 is the perfect choice. Networked CAPS Interface Server A networked CAPS terminal requires the use of a MagTek Ethernet Interface Unit (EIU) to connect the serial CAPS terminal to the Ethernet LAN. The Networked CAPS Interface Server (NCIS) software program is designed to emulate an EIU so the CAPS terminal can be directly connected to a serial or USB port on the PC and use the PCs LAN connection to the CAPS 2000 or MCAPS 3000 (CAPS/MCAPS) server. Features Immediate issuance of new and replacement financial cards at the branch location Secure consumer-selected PIN capabilities Safe delivery of financial cards directly into the hands of the cardholder Elimination of security concerns regarding cards lost or stolen in the mail Reduced mailing expenses for card distribution Card personalization features that are truly unique and inspire cardholder loyalty Centralized control of all card-issuance and consumer-selected PIN operations The CAPS4 is an integrated and compact PIN Pad and Card-Encoder terminal that allows for consumer selected PIN and instant card-issuance operations at branch locations of financial institutions.
